LogiMAT 2012 from 13 to 15 March 2012 in Stuttgart

Best Products in Intralogistics

For the ninth time, the 'Best Product' Awards were presented at LogiMAT, the International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow. The winners received their awards in a prize ceremony which took place on 13 March 2012. A seven-strong, independent jury of trade journalists and professors applied their combined expertise to the job of picking out this year´s 'Best Products'. In accordance with the competition rules, the jury awarded prizes in the categories of 'Procurement, Handling, Storage', 'Order-picking, Packaging, Securing' and 'Software, Communication, IT'.

"This time it was particularly difficult to narrow it down to the favourites, as there were so many top-quality, innovative products and solutions for intralogistics among the over 900 exhibitors at the LogiMAT 2012 trade fair. But we did come up with some particularly praiseworthy winners." So said jury member Professor Dr.-Ing. Willibald A. Günthner, Chair of Materials Handling Technology, Materials Flow and Logistics, at the Technical University of Munich.

The companies which succeeded in winning over the jury with their outstanding achievements in rationalisation, cost-savings and productivity increases are as follows:

1. In the category ‘Procurement, handling, storage’ the winner was CYORIS AG of Switzerland. It won the award for its product CYDRIVE, a new type of gearless, integrated roller drive for 50 mm and 80 mm transport rollers. At LogiMAT 2012 the company will be presenting the potential of this new drive technology in a "container ballet" (Stand 071/Hall 1). A continuous transport system with roller elements and belt conveyors demonstrates the new functions and possibilities of built-in drive technology.

2. In the category ‘Order picking, packaging, protection' the ColomPac® Returnbox from the long-standing company Dinkhauser Kartonagen Vertriebs-GmbH of Barbing near Regensburg (Hall 5 / Stand 161) was the winner. This product is a clever solution for many mail-order businesses, as it significantly alleviates the logistics connected with returns, and is also easier for the customers. The Returnbox is used for both despatches and returns.

3. The optical data coupler LS680-DA from Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH of Mannheim (Hall 3 / Stand 260) took the prize in the ‘Software, communications, IT’ category. This solution is the first on the market for fast optical data transfer in industrial Ethernet systems. Its high transfer rate of 100 Mbit/s opens up new areas of application, e.g. rack operation equipment.

The outstanding achievements of the prize-winners are exemplary of those of all the other exhibitors at LogiMAT 2012, who will be showcasing many new and further developments here on 65,000 square metres of exhibition space.
