LogiMAT 2011 in Stuttgart
First-class in the heart of Europe
From 8 to 10 February 2011 the 9th International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow, LogiMAT 2011, will be putting in another strong performance in Stuttgart. 800 international exhibitors will be presenting their products right at the start of the year, on 52,000 m2 of exhibition space. In Halls 1, 3, 5 and 7 they will be displaying products, solutions and systems that rationalise and save costs in internal logistics processes. Around 100 exhibitors will be making their first appearance in the LogiMAT marketplace next year. Topics under close scrutiny in both the exhibition and the accompanying programme will include the demand for ‘social and ecological sustainability’. The organiser is optimistic that the record of 22,000 trade visitors will be broken next year.
“Act innovatively – inspire with quality", is the slogan for LogiMAT 2011, which is taking place in February. It demonstrates that as we come out of the economic trough, the exhibiting companies are confidently proving their innovative strength with new products, solutions and systems. Inevitably the improved economic situation impacted later on the logistics sector, but this made the sector all the better prepared for the welcome readiness of customers to invest.
“Companies looking for premium concepts to optimise their logistics processes get a complete overview of the industry at LogiMAT, which is held in a compact and easy to navigate exhibition centre,” says Exhibition Director Peter Kazander. This intralogistics trade fair is a very efficient information platform, because it takes place over just a few days in a concentrated space. Situated just a few metres from the airport, Europe’s most modern exhibition centre has a unique advantage with regard to location, as even managers on a very tight schedule can fit in a visit.
Excellent knowledge transfer with no technical jargon: the trade forums
Expert partners will once again be involved in the series of 90-minute trade forums next year, among them the Institute for Distribution and Trade Logistics (IDH – part of VVL e.V.); the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation (IPA). Also present will be the Association of German Engineers (VDI), AIM Germany, the Department of Materials Handling Technology, Material Flow and Logistics from the Technical University of Munich and the local Institute for Materials Handling Technology and Logistics from the University of Stuttgart. The latter will once again present a complete day of lectures under the slogan ‘Intralogistics -- Future – Technology’ on 9 February 2011. In the series of four lectures the Institute will give a glimpse into the future of intralogistics processes and systems.
And last but not least, several forums will again be organised by international trade media.
The following topics will be on offer on a total of five forum areas:
- Utility and futility of green intralogistics
- Intelligent packaging and returnable containers
- AutoID technology for transparency in logistics
- Lean production with SAP
- Financial communication for SMEs
- Focusing on stock
- Insourcing – a trend nobody talks about?
- Intralogistics systems designed for all ages
- Comparing Germany and Austria as locations for industry
- Intelligent FTS solutions in intralogistics
- Safety in the warehouse
- Energy-efficient intralogistics systems of the future
- Recognising and preventing logistics and supply risks!
- Process commissioning and system run-up – ‘Quo vadis project success’?
- Battery management and energy efficiency with forklifts
- Further training in logistics
- IT security in intralogistics
- Objective logistics consultancy – does it exist?
Hands-on intralogistics: The live events
The industry association AIM Germany and its members is putting on the ‘Tracking & Tracing Theatre’. The focus this year is on logistics processes in the automotive sector, and tracking deliveries from the supplier to a distribution centre and through to production. New voice technology applications for order picking will be demonstrated in the distribution centre. This presentation will ‘visibly’ communicate the real relevance of AutoID in Just-In-Sequence procedures and material conveyancing using RFID kanban cards in production.
Warehouse specialist Ehrhardt + Partner is providing an extensive demonstration warehouse on 120 m² of exhibition space in Hall 5 this year. There will be a live presentation on how to design a warehouse that will be highly efficient, ensure reliable processing and thus profitability. Visitors can sample the application of state-of-the-art warehouse technology such as RFID, Pick-by-Voice, multi-order-picking and Put-To-Light in conjunction with the warehouse management system. Material flow, evaluations and KPIs can then be graphically displayed at the push of a button in the warehouse control room.
Last but not least, in Hall 7 there will be action in the special ‘load securing area’. Because shipping space is becoming increasingly scarce, both shipping agents and freight carriers are being asked to coordinate procedures even better, to stow goods more efficiently and to optimise loading times. The latest examples of loading to be examined at LogiMAT 2011 are unstable payloads such as palletized cardboard packaging and bagged cargo, and loading heavy cargo such as flat steel and faggot steel. Trade visitors are given practical tips incorporating a wide range of load securing techniques. Also under the spotlight will be the risks associated with loading dangerous goods and solutions for safe transportation.
Simply outstanding: The BEST PRODUCT Award
The competition to find the most innovative products in the intralogistics sector has begun, and the keen participation shows how coveted the award is within the industry. Next year, for the eighth time, the 'BEST PRODUCT' will be awarded in the three categories: ‘Software, communication, IT’, ‘Order picking, packaging, protection’ and ‘Procurement, handling, storage’. It is crucial that all entries have already contributed to the rationalisation, cost-saving and increase in productivity in intralogistics and have been tested in practice. The decision is made by an independent jury made up of seven renowned academics and journalists.
The prize-winners will be presented with prestigious medals and certificates at a ceremony held at LogiMAT 2011 on 8 February 2011.
LogiMAT is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
A one-day ticket costs €28, a three-day ticket €35.
