Closing report LogiMAT 2010
LogiMAT 2010 in Stuttgart again sets new records for visitors and exhibitors

As the doors closed on the eighth edition of Europe´s largest annual trade fair for distribution, materials handling and information flow, LogiMAT in Stuttgart, more new records were set for exhibitor and visitor participation.

Exhibition Director Peter Kazander and the Euroexpo team have good reason to celebrate. 763 exhibitors (+6.7 percent) from 23 countries on 52,000 square metres of exhibition space have made LogiMAT 2010, which took place from 2 to 4 March, into the intralogistics event of the year, highly regarded across Europe. "A new exhibitor record, a great response from trade visitors and an amazing number of innovations – with all this LogiMAT 2010 has pointed the way forward towards a business upturn," said Peter Kazander.

The number of trade visitors this year – 19,400 – outstripped the previous year´s figure of 16,250 by 19.4 percent. According to a survey by conducted by Wissler & Partner market researchers of Basel, a good third of the visitors made their way to LogiMAT 2010 from a distance of over 200 km. The growing international representation among the exhibitors at the fair (14.5 percent) was also reflected on the visitor side: the main countries of origin from outside Germany were Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark.

Visitor interest was divided virtually equally across the exhibition sections of warehousing logistics, operational equipment, robot technology, hoists, conveyor belts and forklifts, RFID technology and packaging systems. Everywhere in the exhibition halls visitors were able to gather a wealth of ideas from the intralogistics sector, said Kazander, commenting on the range of exhibits on display at the stands. "What people were looking for in particular were ideas which would sensibly combine efficiency and sustainability, a symbiosis of manpower and intelligent technologies," he added.

With 22 trade forums and 115 speakers, 64 lectures from exhibitors and four separate event spaces LogiMAT 2010 lived up to its claim of offering the visitors "a trade fair with real added value".

LogiMAT 2011 takes place from 8 to 10 February 2011 at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre.

"Lots of visitors all with specific projects in mind, from which we hope we can generate new business in the coming weeks. For us this is the best fair."

Uwe Geissinger, CEO Central Europe, Dematic

Ralph Roth, Authorised Signatory, Hüdig + Rocholz
"For us as a supplier of packaging technology, the function of this trade fair as an interface between warehousing and despatch operations is ideal."

"A morning at LogiMAT is better than three days at CeBIT. The atmosphere, the ease of getting here and the exhibition centre itself – all of it is just right."

Klaus Tersteegen, Managing Director, SSI Schäfer Neunkirchen
"For SSI Schäfer LogiMAT has been a must for several years. We make interesting and important new contacts here and the visitor frequency is good – 2010 was no different. We have yet to see whether this year there is a wider spread of international visitors to add to the quality contacts we find from within German-speaking areas."

Christian Wirth, Employee, Toko Etikettier- und Drucksysteme
"LogiMAT is an indicator of economic development."

Christian Baerwolff, Head of Marketing, Still
