LogiMAT 2012 in Stuttgart
Top event in the logistics sector 2012

Between 13 and 15 March 2012, the 10th 'International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow', LogiMAT 2012, will be putting on a comprehensive show of innovative products, services and the latest solutions in the intralogistics sector. In its anniversary year LogiMAT is taking up the entire north wing of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. The motto of this all-encompassing event is 'Innovation and Networks for Sustainable Growth'. Here on 65,000 square metres of space (+ 20 percent) in Halls 1, 3, 5, 7 and (for the first time) Hall 9, over 900 exhibitors (+ 15 percent) from 25 countries will be exhibiting their innovative products for future-oriented and ecologically optimised intralogistics. Among them also – for the first time – suppliers from Spain, Turkey, Canada, Australia and the USA. The trade show is accompanied by an in-depth supporting programme of events, spread over 19 trade forums and featuring many presentations by exhibitors. All of which helps boost the business benefit and promote information exchange with recognised professionals at this compact forum. The organiser of the exhibition is expecting more than 25,000 trade visitors (+ 15 percent) to attend over the three days of the event.

The spring awakening for the logistics sector starts next year at LogiMAT 2012 in Stuttgart – the biggest LogiMAT of all time. Now in its tenth year since launch and as the only logistics trade fair in Europe of comparable size next year, LogiMAT 2012 offers a unique concentration of sector expertise. In stackers alone no less than 30 brands will be presenting their new developments in Hall 9, which has now been added for the first time. The growth-oriented machinery and systems suppliers will be showcasing concepts, systems and solutions for the first time in two halls – Hall 1 and Hall 3. In addition a 2,000 square-metre space will be occupied in the area around the East Entrance. The products and services on show at the exhibitors' stands in Halls 5 and 7 cover the entire user spectrum in the areas of AutoID, packaging, weighing and measuring and the segments of software and order-picking systems. "All the signs are that LogiMAT 2012 will be a truly top-class event, one that points the way forward in intralogistics," explains Peter Kazander, Exhibition Director of LogiMAT. Kazander is keeping to the winning formula of previous events: "The exciting mix of latest product developments, valuable background information and the chance to make contact with all the key manufacturers and suppliers in intralogistics in a single, compact forum is LogiMAT´s main strength. As a result of this it has over the last decade built up a strong reputation as an important meeting place for the sector. We will be taking care to preserve this profile despite the rapid growth of recent years and the fact that in 2012 there is no other comparable event on the market."

LogiMAT 2012 opened for the first time at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre back in 2003, on 4 February. The new concept for the fair, designed by EUROEXPO, was a rapid success. Within ten years the fair has grown from being a predominantly regional logistics event into a key date in the diaries of logistics professionals around Europe.

The motto of LogiMAT 2012 – 'Innovation and Networks for Sustainable Growth' – points the way forward into the future. It stands in equal measure for the high quality of this display of capabilities in the sector (innovations), for the added value this compact market overview delivers to the attendees, for the interesting contacts and information (networks), and for a comprehensive display of solutions in contemporary intralogistics (sustainability). All the visitors, especially the top managers with tight schedules, benefit from LogiMAT´s easy-to-reach venue, right by Stuttgart Airport, from the compact arrangement in the halls according to segments, and the many specialist lectures. It´s a place for gathering a fast and comprehensive picture of the sector, for successful and future-capable intralogistics.

In 2012, many of the exhibitors will be making use of LogiMAT as a showcase to present a whole host of new products and developments. In Hall 1, for example, Kardex-Stow will be presenting its Stow Atlas pallet shuttle system, and in Hall 3, KNAPP AG is showing how a 'low complexity warehouse' has become a reality. Among the new products, and also in Hall 3, is one from Möhringer Handlingsystems – its portal robot PR with integrated piece measurement and parcel optimisation. In Hall 5 Knüppel Verpackung will be presenting not one but three new products: the GRANBY box for dangerous cargo, the KV Rotator hoist with integrated stretcher function and the Flashpacker foam packaging system. The trend towards 'green logistics' is also firmly in the sights of exhibitors. The newly developed resource planning system from C-Informationssysteme GmbH in Hall 7 aids operational material planning by adding the possibility of strategic weekly planning. Thanks to the integrated CO2 calculator, emission values can be identified, evaluated and demonstrated to the customers. Mobility, too, remains a key topic at this year´s LogiMAT. initions AG is presenting for the first time a version of its tried-and-trusted telematics software Opheo Mobile based on the Android operating system. This enables the software house to use cost-effective smartphones for professional telematics applications. Finally the Swiss company MT Robot AG in Hall 9 is showcasing a robust and highly flexible robot transportation system, UNITR. This development, according to the manufacturer, ushers in a new era in robot transportation systems. These examples are just some of the many new developments and innovations that visitors to LogiMAT 2012 will be able to see in all the halls.

The clear added value of LogiMAT is underlined in particular by the trade forums and live events on offer. On five forum spaces located in the heart of the exhibition halls, competent partners and high-ranking experts from science and industry will be presenting reliable facts and figures in a programme divided into 90-minute theme blocks. They will be pointing out recommended courses of action and intelligent, future-capable solutions for practical day-to-day application. The list of specialist institutes taking part is long and impressive; it includes AIM Deutschland, the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Lörrach (DHBW), the Institut für Fördertechnik und Logistik of the University of Stuttgart (IFT), the Institut für Distributions- und Handelslogistik (IDH) of the VVL e.V., the Fraunhofer-Institut für Materialfluss und Logistik (IML), the Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IPA), the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI), the Lehrstuhl für Fördertechnik Materialfluss und Logistik (fml) at the Technical University of Munich, the Intralogistics Network in Baden-Württemberg e.V. and a range of international trade media. "All of which means LogiMAT is offering a knowledge forum at congress level," promises Exhibition Director Kazander.

The following forum themes are on offer on the three days. Attendance at the forums is included in the price of a ticket to the fair.

- Logistics software from the cloud
- Assessment of packaging solutions seen from the sustainability angle
- Levelled production in SAP
- Pricing in logistics
- Careers in logistics – opportunities and obstacles
- Internet of Things for intercompany processes
- Green (logistics) real estate

- Intralogistics 2020: Future of automation in order-picking and packing
- Successful process optimisation through a holistic approach

In addition the knowledge pool at LogiMAT 2012 is offering four live events running on all three days of the show: The 'Innovations Park' (Hall 3) is concerned with the future of automation in order-picking and packaging, 'Load Securing' (Hall 3) shows ways to make different loads safe, the 'Tracking und Tracing Theatre' (Hall 5) mirrors live scenarios from modern process chains, while 'Efficient Warehousing' (Hall 7) is a 120-square-metre hands-on display of the latest technology for warehousing.

Last but not least, LogiMAT 2012 will also be the platform for the presentation of the 9th 'Best Product' Awards in the categories of 'Software, Communication, IT'; 'Order-picking, Packaging, Securing', and 'Procurement, Handling, Storage'. The winners, selected by an independent, seven-strong jury from business, research and the media, will receive their awards in a prize ceremony on 13 March. The key criteria in the selection of the winners are products or innovations that demonstrably improve efficiency, cost-optimisation and rationalisation. "In its anniversary year, much is expected of LogiMAT," sums up Kazander. "Nevertheless, with its wide range of products, services and information, and as the only intralogistics trade fair in 2012, it will easily fulfil these high expectations. LogiMAT 2012 is an exciting, informative event with high user value – for both exhibitors and visitors."
